What type of fishing is available?
We offer freshwater fishing and the main lake is stocked with coarse fish – pike, carp, perch, tench and bream. There are two further fishing ponds on the other side of the road at Borwick Lakes. They are also part of our park and offer a choice of fishing spots.
Can anyone fish at Lakeland Lodges?
Fishing is restricted to guests staying at the park.
Do I need a license to fish at Lakeland Lodges?
Any angler aged 12 or over, fishing for freshwater fish must have a valid Environment Agency Rod Fishing Licence. These can be purchased at your local post office branch, via the Environment Agency website (https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences/buy-a-fishing-licence), or by calling the Environment Agency fishing licence service on 0344 800 5386.
Do any of the lodges have fishing boats?
Serenity lodge has its own boat, which guests may use during their stay. If you have booked any other lodge accommodation with us you are welcome to bring your own non-motorised sailing craft to fish from.
Do the lodges have private jetties?
Three of our lodges offer private fishing jetties: Twitchers, Tranquility and Serenity. For all other lodges you are welcome to pick a spot around the lake to fish from as long as you aren’t occupying other guests’ space or jetties.
What size of fish am I likely to catch?
The lake is stocked with really nice fish but no monsters – most of the carp are 10-15lb.
Are the other fisheries nearby?
We highly recommend a fishing trip to one or more of the three lakes at ClearWater Fishery (http://www.clearwaterfisheries.co.uk/) in Carnforth. They offer peg fishing at three locations – Keer Lake is an exclusive syndicated carp water with carp in excess of 46lbs and Wels Catfish to 60lb+. Kellet Lake is a 6 acre, day ticket, specimen Carp lake with a good mix of older and quality new stock fish. Kent’s Bank is a mature gravel pit with huge variations in depths and is well-stocked with carp to low 20lbs and most other UK coarse fish species.
Can you recommend a good bait shop near to Lakeland Lodges?
ClearWater Fisheries in Carnforth sell bait but Gerry’s Fishing (https://www.gerrysfishing.com/) on the prom in Morecambe is the biggest fishing store in the North West and is well worth the short drive.
